Dec 17,2011 - Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Our society is entering a time of profound transformation. Crises in the economy, the ecosystem, health, education, water, energy, and more are propelling our civilization toward a radically different way of living on planet earth. Such conditions call for a new kind of leader, and even a whole new paradigm of leadership. At stake are the deep questions: “Who are we?” “What are we here to create?” “What is the role of humanity on earth, and how may I contribute to it?”
In this day-long workshop, we will explore, in concept and in practice:
- Our unique historical moment: from separation to connection.
- The psycho-dynamics of transition (personal, organizational, planetary).
- The rebirth of community.
- Leadership in an age of social and ecological healing.
- A leader: “One who creates opportunities for others to express their gifts.”
- A leader: “One who holds the story of what-is-to-be.”
- What does leadership mean in a non- hierarchical setting?
Cost: Self-determined. A $25 deposit is required to hold your space, refundable at event upon request. Reserve your space through PayPal (below) or send a check to: Judith L. Katz, 2425 Channing Way, #572, Berkeley, CA 94704. SEATING IS LIMITED.

How can we leverage our natural empathic abilities to bridge the gap between ourselves and others; between diverse constituencies; and between our inner worlds, and our external actions? In this workshop we will explore connective technologies like NVC (as developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg), gift circles, somatic intelligence, and Open Space Technology. We will apply these processes to real situations in our lives, and realize new ways to:
-
Connect with others at a deeper level
-
Facilitate people/groups with different needs and worldviews working together
-
Facilitate conflict resolution and restorative justice processes (reducing our reliance on police, and penal systems )
-
Tap into our own intelligence, and serve as a resource for groups to self-organize and function more lovingly, and
-
“Govern” in non-hierarchical ways that better meet the needs of all involved.
You will take away a toolkit of processes to facilitate non-hierarchical decision-making and governance, mix facilitation processes, and work collaboratively with others to create powerful partnerships.
You will learn how to midwife more spiritually potent words, symbols and actions in your relationships, your organizations and our world.
